'During Vacation One Week For Nation' - Jashpurnagar, Chhattisgarh - 2nd Feb 2016 - 8th Feb 2016 'Sevankur' team decided to take 300 students from Maharashtra to the tribal area of Chhattisgarh by train. This specific program was named ‘During Vacation One Week For Nation’. This was a totally new experience for everyone. 'Sevankur' team faced many problems starting from the railway reservations etc. Despite all difficulties the program was extremely successful. It was appreciated by all the participants. Student's conducted surveys in tribal areas, resided at their huts in small villages, experienced their difficulties and were overwhelmed by the ancient phrase ‘Atithi Devo Bhav.’ They had informal dialogue with local people. Through street plays students made them aware of various health issues. After the night halt in a small village students participated in a free medical checkup camp with senior specialist doctors. They understood the tribal cultures through the cultural event. In the concluding ceremony they were overwhelmed by the thrilling lecture on ‘Management skills of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.’ | The participants shared their experiences in the presence of Hon. Shri. Vinodji Tawde (Cabinet Minister, Medical Education, Govt. Maharashtra) and Hon. Dr. Ashokrao Kukde (Surgeon, Founder trustee of Vivekanand Hospital, Latur). They also confirmed their participation in the next year's camp. During the return journey in the trains students discussed the need of medical service in tribal areas. Few students expressed their willingness to serve after completion of post-graduation. In short, the entire experience sowed the seed of selfless service in the minds of students. Sevankur strongly believes that it is the duty of society to nurture such a dream so that it is transformed into reality tomorrow. This is a very gradual process. ‘During Vacation One Week for Nation’ program was most 'viral' for the entire one year in almost all the medical colleges. Students were eagerly waiting for the next upcoming programs by 'Sevankur'. 'Team Sevankur' acknowledges the immense efforts of dedicated activists from Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, whose indefinite diligence and affectionate behavior played a vital role in the success of the program. |
