Events that Happen - OWFN 2019 Itinerary Journey of a Lifetime |
Event Introduction The Sevankur – Seva Bharati initiative organized by Vivekanand Kendra, Kanyakumari, took place from January 22nd to 30th, 2019, in Tamil Nadu. This event brought together 264 students and 30 consultants from Maharashtra to participate in various community service activities. Journey to Kanyakumari The journey began from LTT (Kurla), Mumbai, on January 22nd, 2019, by Netravati Express. The participants reached Trivandrum on January 23rd and Kanyakumari on the same day. Inaugural Function and Cultural Visits The inaugural function was held on January 24th, 2019, with Padmashree Hon. Nivedita Bhide ( (Vice President, Vivekanand Kendra) and Dr. Sudhansu Bhattacharya (well-known cardiothoracic surgeon, Mumbai) as chief guests. The students subsequently visited Ramayan Darshanam, Gangotri, and the Vivekanand Exhibition in batches. Visit to Vivekananda Rock Memorial On January 25th, 2019, the students visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, established by Hon. Eknathji Ranade. Dr Subramhanyam delivered a talk on the importance of ethics in medical practice, drawing references from the Ramayana. Republic Day Celebration and Village Outreach The students celebrated Republic Day on January 26th, 2019, in a school run by Vivekanand Kendra. Shri. J. Nandakumar ((RSS, Pradnya Pravah) addressed the students, and a group of 16 participants were sent to 18 nearby villages for community service near Kanyakumari. Staying arrangements were made with local people. Community Service Activities On January 27th, 2019, the students conducted a Clean India campaign and a free medical checkup camp in the 18 villages, examining over 2700 patients. Workshops and Experience Sharing On January 28th, 2019, a workshop on communication skills was conducted by Shri Nilesh ji Surana, followed by an experience sharing session. |
