Informal Phase – Doctors at Dr. Hedgewar Hospital began engaging with students in 1997, leading to the evolution of 'Sevankur'. The movement remained informal, confined to Government Medical College, Sambhajinagar, without a formal name.
Demand for Camps – A two-day residential camp held on August 5th and 6th, 2006, included 240 boys and 60 girls from 23 medical colleges across Maharashtra. The movement was officially named 'Sevankur' during this camp. Growing Demand for Camps. The program received widespread appreciation, with a lasting impact. Students expressed a strong desire for annual camps, though these could not be organized until 2012.
A similar two-day residential camp was conducted on April 25th and 26th, 2015, at Arya Chanakya Vidyadham, drawing participation from 300 medical students. The overwhelming response led to a commitment to organize annual camps for all students in Maharashtra.
Sevankur Bharat and One Week for Nation became a national movement for medical students and healthcare professionals across India. We are now a family!
