Mumbai, Pudhari News Service: The work of 'Sevankur Bharat' project, which provides free health and medical services for a week to people in rural and tribal areas of various states of the country, along with young doctors and medical students, is commendable.
On Monday, July 7, the Chief Minister inaugurated the NTPC Lara-funded Jagdev Ram Urav Kalyan Ashram Hospital in Jagdalpur, Korba. The 5-acre hospital, built at a cost of ₹35-53 crores, will provide free treatment to tribal patients and be staffed by 45 doctors.

My journey with Sevankur Bharat began in 2016 during a week-long service camp in the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh. In those seven days, I learnt that service is not just help — it’s a way of life. The experience sowed in me values of leadership, teamwork, compassion, and social responsibility, transforming my outlook from self-focused to society-focused. Today, inspired by Sevankur, our team of 20 doctors is working towards establishing a 200-bed super-speciality hospital in Ranchi. For me, being a doctor now means more than treating patients — it’s about shaping society and inspiring change.

We feel genuinely proud to be associated with Sevankur. The film which we produced and created for Sevankur Bharat’s One Week for The Nation is our heartfelt tribute to their journey — an attempt to give voice to a movement that restores faith in humanity. Collaborating with them has been more than a partnership; it has been a reaffirmation of why Swayam Talks exists.”

It gave me real-world exposure to a doctor’s duty beyond academics, expanded my network with friends from diverse backgrounds, and nurtured leadership, confidence, and communication skills. Through medical camps, I understood society’s real challenges while growing through yoga, volunteerism, and microplanning. Sevankur is shaping a brighter future for India by building responsible youth.

I have been associated with Sevankur Bharat for the past five years, during which I have come to deeply understand its mission of “Nation-building through character-building.” My journey with Sevankur has shaped me into a more dutiful, disciplined, sensitive, and socially conscious individual, while also enhancing my organisational skills. What sets Sevankur apart is its unwavering commitment to creating a positive impact, supported by the dedication and infectious enthusiasm of its members. Beyond medical knowledge, Sevankur has gifted me invaluable treasures — sensitivity, empathy, brotherhood, social responsibility, and the spirit of giving back to society. The experiences here are truly remarkable, and I feel a deep sense of gratitude and pride in being part of an organisation that is building the nation through selfless service.

Through its camps, service projects, and student-led activities, Sevankur has taught me leadership, discipline, and compassion in the most natural way. It has given me lifelong friends, a deeper connection with society, and a sense of purpose beyond my profession. To be part of a patriotic, value-driven youth community — the kind Swami Vivekananda dreamed of — is a privilege I will cherish forever.
